Service Department Welcomes Fred Beal

Since the summer of 2001, Mr. Beal assumed the duties as Service Manager of Bond Organ Builders, Inc. of Portland, Oregon and is a freelance organist in the Portland area.

From 1985 to 2001, Frederick Beal was employed as Service Manager of the Berghaus Organ Company of Bellwood, Illinois and from 1982 until 2001 he was also the Organist at St. Augustine Episcopal Church in Wilmette, Illinois.

He has recently served a term as a board member of the Chicago-Midwest Chapter of the Organ Historical Society and also as co-editor of that chapter’s newsletter, The Stopped Diapason. Currently, he is a member of the National Board of the American Institute of Organbuilders.

A long time member of the American Guild of Organists, he also holds membership in the Anglican Association of Musicians, the Organ Historical Society, and the American Institute of Organbuilders. As an organist, he has performed in recital, most recently at St. Mary de Crypt Church in Gloucester, England, as part of that church’s Noon Recital Series and at the 2002 National Convention of the Organ Historical Society in Chicago.

Previously, he has served as a member of the board of the Chicago Chapter of the American Guild of Organists and the Diocesan Liturgical Commission of the Episcopal Diocese of Chicago.

He was an organ major at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and continued his education at the Royal School of Church Music in Croydon, England. He also holds the Service Technician Certificate from the American Institute of Organbuilders.
