New Renovation for St. Martin's Church, Davis, California

October, 2009

Bond Organ Builders, Inc. has completed an enlargement of the 1982 Schlicker Organ at St. Martin’s Church in Davis. This two-manual and pedal instrument, originally duplexed from seven stops all in a single enclosure, has now been expanded to thirteen stops by the addition of an unenclosed Great, placed behind an intriguing assymetrical pipe display.

All original pipework has been incorporated into the thoroughly reworked stop list, with the exception of a 16’ Dulzian which has given way to a 16’ Bassoon/Oboe. An 8’ Trompette replaced one of the flutes in the expressive division, and space for a Gemshorn Celeste was created by moving the Mixture to the Great.

The organ’s electronics have been completely updated; features include MIDI capablility, transposer and record-playback system. The new organ was used in worship for the first time on September 27, 2009. Gerard Montana is the Director of Music.
